Dear Tai Chi Friends,

People of many cultures have been in awe of the Autumn Moon for centuries, giving rise to many cultural traditions and celebrations across the globe.

We call it the Harvest moon, and celebrate it with hayrides, apple cider, and mazes, among other things.

The Chinese call it the Mid-Autumn Festival, also called the Moon Festival. It is a time to

🏮 Light and carry lanterns

🌕 Admire the full moon

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Gather with family and friends

🥮 Eat mooncakes

The Greeting in Chinese is : 中秋快乐! Zhōng qiū kuài lè!

The Chinese see the full moon as a symbol of harmony and completeness, making it an ideal time for families to gather. Red lanterns are hung outside the door, on the streets and inside stores.

In traditional Chinese philosophy, the moon is associated with the feminine energy (Yin), contrasting with the sun, which represents masculine energy (Yang). This balance of Yin and Yang is central to Chinese cosmology and philosophy.

Let’s join the celebrations by learning Red Lantern Tai Chi.

This adds to the ways we bring, not just community together, but cultures together, in time-honored and beautiful ways.

This is a visually appealing Tai Chi dance, just in time for winter and holidays, with stepping patterns that create safety and stability while changing direction.

Shoulder Rehabilitation movements are gently woven into the beauty of this routine.

Please register and pay before Wed. Oct 7 to ensure a lantern is ordered for you. (See flyer for details.)

Looking forward to sharing this beautiful routine with you,

Deirdre

Threads of Light Tai Chi Workshop reminds us to connect gently through movement, color daily moments with appreciation, and turn gatherings into connections.
